Asili is one of Barbaresco’s most celebrated and highly-prized vineyards, and the Roagna plot is situated in the very heart of the hill, much like the Grands Crus of Burgundy. The vines here are older than 50 years old, with the parcel just a fifth of a hectare in total. The 2013 is gorgeous, with dancing red fruit and elegance alongside power. There’s a hint of almond kernel, and stunning, talc-like tannins. Just 1,000 bottles are produced.
