2012 Barbaresco, Crichët Pajé, Roagna

From the very top of the hill, the finest site in the Paje vineyard, and vines that are at least 60 years old, Crichet Paje is one of the great wines of Piedmont. The 2012 is surprisingly approachable, but don’t let that fool you. This is one for the long haul. If you let it age, it’s sure to blow you away. Astonishingly beautiful. If you can get hold of this, do so. Strictly limited to 6 bottles per customer

Roagna

The saying ‘like father, like son’ applies to Alfredo Roagna and his grown son Luca. They share an infectious passion for their wines that bear the family name, and for upholding a tradition dating to the 1920s. With a new winery in the hillside in Barbaresco itself, they have the perfect playground. Their philosophy is considered traditional: from nearly fifteen hectares of vines, some one hundred years old, they let the wines show their terroir, and intervene as little as possible.
