2012 Friuliano Collio DOC, Villa Russiz, Friuli Venezia Giulia
Rather unusually, Villa Russiz is run by a not-for-profit organisation, with funds being channelled back into the local community. This crisp and fragrant white is made from the locally widely-planted Tocai Friuliano, and is vibrant with notes of white flowers and peach on the nose. The palate has good weight and balance, with attractive pear and white peach characters balanced by zesty lemon acidity. Pretty and appealing, this is deliciously simple and simply delicious.
