2011 Barbaresco, Crichët Pajé, Roagna

One of the great wines of Piedmont. Just half a hectare of historic vines, the youngest of which are 60 years old. This is profound and complex. As good as Nebbiolo, and indeed wine, can get.

Roagna

The saying ‘like father, like son’ applies to Alfredo Roagna and his grown son Luca. They share an infectious passion for their wines that bear the family name, and for upholding a tradition dating to the 1920s. With a new winery in the hillside in Barbaresco itself, they have the perfect playground. Their philosophy is considered traditional: from nearly fifteen hectares of vines, some one hundred years old, they let the wines show their terroir, and intervene as little as possible.
