2010 Gavi di Gavi La Minaia, Nicola Bergaglio

2010 Gavi di Gavi La Minaia, Nicola Bergaglio

Gavi has become one of the most sought-after premium Italian wines. The DOCG Gavi di Gavi lies on chalky soil – the perfect terroir for the Cortese grape – which produces minerally citrus wines with elegance and finesse. La Minaia is now one of the leading family-owned producers of quality Gavi di Gavi, whose vines are around 50 years old. Careful training and vineyard work, along with manual harvest and gentle pressing in the winery result in wines of excellent weight and concentration. The wine is fermented in stainless steel to retain its wonderful freshness.
With notes of minerals and ripe citrus on the nose, this is an enticing and attractive wine. Crisp on the palate with conference pear and star anise notes, combined with a mouth-watering green and red-apple acidity.
