There are just four barriques of this Cabernet Franc. Luca only uses the grapes if they’re picked in November - only then does he think it’s attained full ripeness. It then spends 5 years in barrique, to produce 1,000 bottles or so, of which 400 are kept at the winery. The results are so complex. This is floral with graphite, violets, deep fruit and saline freshness. With silky tannins and amazing weight, this is incredible.

A Vino da Tavola, the 2010 'L Franc is a pure expression of Cabernet Franc made from the acidic, sandy soils of Alto Piemonte. Only 1,000 bottles were produced. This is a stunning red wine with profound depth and vast horizons. The wine's appearance is incredibly dense and dark but the bouquet is refined and elegant—almost lightweight or ethereal. You get black fruit, exotic spice, powdered mocha, licorice and cured tobacco. The wine carries an evidently important level of dry extract, but it does so with the utmost grace and transparency.
