The cool weather of 2008 resulted in a long growing season. Picking commenced much later than usual, allowing the fruit to reach full phenolic ripeness; the result is this is no ordinary normale. The nose is powerfully concentrated, with meaty, spicy black fruit notes on a ripe juicy palate that still displays a pleasingly fresh note of sour red cherries and lashings savoury spice. Notes of leather and mocha carry through to an impressively long finish that is supported by fine grained tannins.
