2007 Barbaresco San Stefanetto, Piero Busso, Piedmont
Labelled as San Stunet in the local language, the San Steffanato vineyard is a mixture of chalk and clay soil. The resulting wine (just 5,800 bottles) is perhaps less austere than the Borgese, but shares similar appetising acidity, with a sweet core or ripe fruit. 30% of the production is aged in barriques, which gives a gentle gloss of oak.
