2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Vigna Gli Angeli, La Gerla

Made in the cantina from a particular selection of older vines with strictly reduced yields and matured for 3 years in large Slavonian oak casks, this is a celestial traditional Brunello. With sweeter notes on the nose than the normale, it is attractively fragrant and redolent of damson and plum. The palate is mouth-filling and rich, with structural tannins providing a strong framework for the ripe, dark berry fruit and a zip of acidity giving the wine lift and life. Perfectly balanced, this is a tour-de-force of powerful, traditional Brunello.
** Please note that those wishing to purchase a case of Gli Angeli will be required to purchase two cases (12 bottles) of the normale.**

La Gerla

Sergio Rossi fell in love with the vineyards of Montalcino, and bought his own estate in 1976. The land was bought off the Biondi-Santi family, the most historic name in Brunello production, and Sergio quickly set about turning his new estate into one of the best performing in the region. He sadly passed away in July 2011, so the 2011 vintage holds a special place at the estate. His work has been ably continued by his wife, Donatella, and his right hand men, Alberto Passeri and Vittorio Fiore.
