2003 Barbaresco, Gaja, Piedmont
A blend of fruit from fourteen different vineyards. It has a medium ruby colour and an opulent scent of ripe red fruits and musk roses, balanced by a dusky note of tobacco leaf and spice. The palate has a concentrated core of very ripe black and red fruit with powerful tannins which are ripe, elegant and beautifully integrated. Shows wonderful balance: a seamless wine with all the tell-tale Gaja hallmarks and, exploiting the heat of the vintage, Gaja has produced another flawless barbaresco.
