The palate is succulent, smooth, meaty and long with complex characters of tobacco, forest fruits and game. The initial attack is fabulous — an explosion of flavours — with a follow-through of spice, figs, smoke and leather. Tasted initially with fish — it was an amazing partner to hake wrapped in hot smoked salmon — and later with cheese, the wine's stature was beautifully expressed.
