2015 Único, Vega Sicilia, Ribera del Duero

The 2015 Unico is expressive from the outset. Coming from a warmer year, the grapes ripened quickly which meant attention needed to be paid to harvest date to ensure the fruit coming in was 'al dente'. There is freshness and power to this wine, it opens with aromas of cedar, warm tobacco spice, and incense which deftly combine with the dark cherry and bramble fruit. There is power and muscularity on the palate but this melts away on the finish leaving a sense of real finesse.
