"The show-stopping 2010 L’Ermita is a blend of organically cultivated 90% Garnacha, 8% Samso and 2% Garnacha Blanca, aged for 19 months entirely in French oak as usual (to be precise, one 600-litre foudre, two barriques and one half-barrel.) The nose is more understated when compared directly to the 2009, the scents of those warm slate soils coming through underneath the precise damson, boysenberry and raspberry fruit that unfurls with each swirl of the glass. The palate is full-bodied and intense rather than powerful, demonstrating more tension and precision than the 2009. Here, there is life-affirming freshness, and though it does not have the same weight and richness as the 2009, one finds a different expression of the old vines, one that is defined by its finesse and clarity, as if the lens is perfectly focused. There is a sensational finish of blood orange and maraschino cherry suffused with shimmering vivacity. Alvaro believes this will gain greater volume once it is in bottle. This is so good it may bring tears to the eyes!"96-98 Points, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
