2008 Alión, Vega-Sicilia, Ribera del Duero

Darkly brooding on the nose and very tightly wound at this young stage of its evolution. Notes of dark berries and macerated cherry fruit come through on the palate, with a touch of crushed mint leaf on the finish. The tannins provide a strict framework, but are incredibly finely realised and ripe, and there is an attractive freshness on the finish that gives this wine an elegant lift and drive.
