2005 Imperial Reserva, CVNE, Rioja

CVNE’s Imperial is dense and concentrated with a tight nose of dark berry fruit and raspberry. The intensity of the fruit almost masks the oak, which is evident in a dark chocolate and coffee character. While the palate is powerful and well-structured, sweet, ripe, dark berry and cherries dominate. Lovely dark fruit notes combine with hints of creamy vanilla on the finish. Long and fresh with fine, ripe tannins. Very promising.
