This is one of the hottest sites in the whole of the Wachau thanks in part to its south facing exposition, as well as being one of the steepest and largest. This wine shines in 2021 with the richness and concentration, demonstrating exotic perfume and ripe apricot notes with a crisp acidity and mineral core that helps bring some precision to the wine. This wine often needs time, yet you will be rewarded as this wine is impressive and is layered with complexity.

Weingut F.X. Pichler

Based in Austria’s most prestigious region, the Wachau, F.X. Pichler are one of the world’s foremost producers of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. Franz Xaver (the eponymous F.X.) inherited the estate in 1971, and was instrumental in the rise to prominence of both his family’s winery and the Wachau. His son Lucas (the fifth generation) now makes the wine, but F.X. is still an active presence in the vineyards.
