2013 Schlossberg Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs, Fürst, Franconia
The fruit of older vines planted on south-facing red sandstone terraces, this is a darkly fragrant and brooding Pinot; somewhat akin to Pommard with spice, punch, and power. The depth of flavour and robust structure suggest this will age magnificently. There’s an argument that Fürst make the best Pinot Noir in Germany; tasting this, many would go as far as to say they make some of the best in the world.
