2018 Lorchhäuser Seligmacher Riesling QbA, Eva Fricke
From the highest and coolest vineyard the Rheingau, which receives the wisperwind, keeping it cool. There’s lots of quartzite in this west facing site. So much lemon zest, and blossom on the nose of this 11% alcohol Riesling. Such precision but still richness. Indeed, Eva thinks this is the richest Seligmacher they’ve made. Honeydew melon, floral, elderflower, exotic character. Super complex. Clones from 1900, plantings 1900-1930. Clone had more Traminer in it, hence that slight lychee, rose petal character.
