This is a unique wine, made by one of the most famous names of the Mosel. From vines that are over a century old, ungrafted and grown in the best part of the steep Ürziger-Würzgarten vineyard. Subtle on the nose, with hints of preserved lemon and crushed stone. The palate is reserved, with conference pear and citrus fruit held in check by a linear mineral character and a vein of acidity that carries through to the finish. Severe in youth and rather ungiving, this will evolve into a complex and appealing dry-styled Riesling.
