2018 Niederhauser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese, Dönnhoff, Nahe

Younger vines – 35-40 years of age. Very lifted and floral on the nose, notes of rose petal and mango, with passion fruit, too. Intense and showy. And such poise, and plenty of spearmint, and peppermint, and so much exotic fruit. Really impressive and long, with generosity and power, and so much to it.

2018 Niederhauser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese, Dönnhoff, Nahe
Weingut Dönnhoff

Dönnhoff are based in the Nahe region of Germany, noted for its diverse soils, which are beautifully expressed in Dönnhoff’s single vineyard wines. The family winery has existed since the mid-18th century, but has reached its highest level under Helmut Dönnhoff, at the helm since 1971. Dönnhoff’s wines bear the standard for the Nahe, so often overshadowed by Mosel and Rheingau.
