2013 Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Dry Grosses Gewachs, Dönnhoff, Nahe

As with most German vineyards, this has an evocative name, which in this case means a terraced hollow in the steep hillside. This hollow, and the igneous rocks which make up the soil, really trap and contain the warmth of the sun, creating a wonderful ripeness in this vineyard’s wines, with aromas and flavours of lemon rind and crushed stone balanced with a burst of mouthwatering acidity on the finish.
