2018 Blanc de Noirs, Rathfinny, Sussex

2018 Blanc de Noirs, Rathfinny, Sussex

Rathfinny Estate Blanc de Noirs 2018 is a blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier grapes, hand-harvested from their beautiful estate in East Sussex. This is the fourth vintage of this premium blend and has aged on the lees for 36 months. Floral peony notes on the nose marry with wild strawberries followed by a palate raspberry, red apple and toasted almonds. Wonderfully balanced, and very long: not to be missed.

Tasting notes

Liquorice nose. It's hard to believe the dosage is so low, because the ripeness and roundness of fruit on this wine is exceptional. Pin-point-fine bubbles snap the lemon and blueberry fruit into taut lines. There's a cool stoniness, like mossy concrete; an almost imperceptible peppery nuttiness; and then the wine momentarily widens into sweet pear before narrowing into a piercing finish.
