This year Cristal is a blend of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay coming from 32 of the 45 plots that can make up the blend. The nose opens with a lift of chalk dust, white flowers and almond pastry with detailed aromas of pear and fresh summer berries. On the palate the mousse is beautifully focused and fine grained with a breath of salinity and jasmine mingling with flavours of white chocolate. Effortlessly pure and crystalline at this stage it will gain in weight and complexity over time.
