2015 Special Club, Grand Terroirs de Chardonnay, Pierre Gimonnet et Fils
Special Club, or Club de Trésors, was established in 1971 to celebrate the finest grower Champagne producers. Pierre Gimonnet et Fils was one of its 12 founding members, and since then has held its esteemed place even as the club has grown considerably in size. Cuvée Special Clubs are only made in the best vintages, and are only delclared after a panel of oenologists and professionals have blind tasted the wines for consideration. It’s little surprise the Grands Terroirs de Chardonnay 2015 from Pierre Gimonnet was given the nod. It is bright, fresh, tightly coiled, with sensuous depth and restrained blanc de blancs richness. The fruit comes predominantly from grand cru vineyards in Cramant and Chouilly, with a small balance from premier cru Cuis. It was disgorged in July 2021, and has a dosage of 4g/l. It has plenty of ageing potential ahead of it.
