2012 Emotion, Vilmart et Cie

Formerly labelled as Grand Cellier Rubis, this is the outstanding rosé of Laurent Champs at Vilmart. It is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir (saignée) and 40% Chardonnay from sixty year old premier cru vines. The nose of this 2012 is exuberant and beguiling: rose petals, almonds, and tangerines. It is so full of flavour and complexity, yet remains utterly poised, and so finely balanced in its perfectly weighted form. This must be one of the top rosés of the vintage.
