Charles Heidsieck might be a Grande Marque, but its small size and attention to detail mean that it behaves much like a Grower Champagne. This wonderful blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay is a testament to the 2012 vintage: outstanding for its Pinot Noir in particular. It has a delicious richness that comes through this perfect Pinot as well as long ageing. It is zesty and poised, but generous. Light citrus and biscuity notes on the nose are followed by a creamy palate with energetic acidity, and a full, long finish. A delicious Champagne from this exemplary vintage.
