2008 La Vigne Aux Gamins Blanc de Blancs, Thiénot

This incredibly rare Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs from the outstanding 2008 vintage is a beautiful thing. It comes from a single parcel of 60 year old vines in Avize, whose chalky soils are famous for the superb Chardonnays that grow here. A low dosage (only 4g/l) combined with extended ageing on lees (11 years sur lattes) has imbued the wine with a complexity and depth that’s hard to match. Only 4,000 bottles were made.
