2004 L'Aérienne, Champagne Tarlant

The 2004 aérienne is gorgeous. There's a weightless richness to this fizz with notes of acacia and peach, and such a textured finish. Perfectly at home with food, and on its own, it’s a simply incredible wine from Benoit Tarlant.

2004 L'Aérienne, Champagne Tarlant

TASTING NOTES

The 2004 Millésime Prestige l'Aérienne is "the answer to 2003," says Benoît Tarlant. "Everything was relaxed. It was a nice and happy year, with good yields but no hail and no storms." The white l'Aérienne blends 70% Chardonnay with 30% Pinot Noir and opens with a clear, concentrated bouquet of white and yellow-fleshed fruits along with citrus aromas and some ginger notes. On the palate, this is very generous and elegant yet pure and vital cuvée with a juicy Chardonnay character right now and lots of finesse. Still very young, the finish is pure, very salty, long and tensioned. Disgorged in February 2018.

The Brut Nature 2004 L’Aerienne is a very pretty vintage Champagne from Benoit Tarlant. Time in bottle has given the wine a bit more textural depth and overall intensity than it showed last year. Chardonnay-infused flavors make a strong first impression, before the presence of the red grapes becomes more evident on the mid-palate. The 2004 finishes with striking freshness and delicacy, but without robbing the wine of its essential richness
