2002 Clos d'Ambonnay, Krug

Ambonnay is where Pinot Noir reaches its zenith in Champagne, and the tiny Clos is a walled vineyard of just 0.68 hectares. 2002 is just the sixth release ever of this single vineyard from Krug (the first was 1995). It is rich in toasted brioche character and grilled hazelnuts, with an astonishing depth on the finish.
