Bin-end sale: case price down from £138 to £125 per 6 in bond.
Domaines Ott* is the last word in Provençal sophistication, and their Clos Mireille rosé has become an emblem of the Riviera. But the truth is, this is equally at home enjoyed in the garden on a summer evening as it is on the white tablecloths of the chicest restaurants in St Tropez. The wine is made only from the "coeur de grain," the very purest juice of the berries. Its light, lithe body and detailed freshness make this one of the world’s most graceful rosés. Domaines Ott* can take a lot of credit for putting the now ubiquitous style of pale, dry Provençal rosé on the map.

Domaines Ott*

Domaines Ott* was established in 1912 by Marcel Ott. He was an agricultural engineer from Alsace who set out to create a great wine estate near the Mediterranean in the South of France. Instead, he founded three. Two in Côtes de Provence: Château de Selle in 1912 and Château de Mireille in 1935 and he followed this in 1956 with Château Romassan in Bandol. Following his success, Marcel wanted to patent his name and to do so, he needed a unique symbol. He chose the asterix, which later became the name of a new prestige cuvée, Etoile, meaning star. Since the start, Domaines Ott*’s vines have been farmed organically, with no expense spared when it comes to quality. Everything is handpicked, followed by careful sorting and delicate pressing. Château de Mireille’s fine rosés spend six to eight months in oak, giving a slightly creamier texture, and greater complexity than many in the region. Across their two appellations Domaines Ott* farm incredibly well-situated vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Sémillon, allowing them to make some of the most benchmark expressions of Provence wines you will find. The domaine has been owned by Champagne Louis Roederer since 2004, with brothers Christian and Jean-François Ott at the helm. They are continuing the family traditions, steadfastly committed to creating the finest expressions of Provence.
