2016 Domaine Paradella, Patrimonio, Corsica

2016 Domaine Paradella, Patrimonio, Corsica

2016 is the first vintage from this outstanding new talent. Made from 100% Nielluccio (the local name for Sangiovese) in the Corsican appellation of Patrimonio, this is a dazzling example of the potential to be found here. Winemaker Lionel Wojcik trained at Ch Tertre Roteboeuf, and its influence is clear in his inaugural vintage. This is a fragrant, enticing wine with a beguiling aroma of sweet red berry fruits and generous oak. Its silky tannins entwined with decadent fruit are perfectly matched by the oak. With a few years in bottle this will be outstanding.

Domaine Paradella

This young domaine, established in 2016, produces wines with levels of elegance, decadence, and sophistication that fly in the face of any notions of rusticity in Corsican wines. Lionel Wojcik is a good friend of François Mitjavile’s son, and trained at Tertre Roteboeuf itself. The influence is clear in his Nielluccio (the local name for Sangiovese). It treads that same line as Mitjavile’s wines: somehow being both an evocative expression of place and terroir, whilst also echoing the velvety tones of an exquisite Burgundy. These are captivating wines, from a huge new young talent.
