2020 Clos de la Bretonnière, La Taille aux Loups, Jacky Blot

2020 Clos de la Bretonnière, La Taille aux Loups, Jacky Blot

This vineyard is actually within Vouvray, but cannot use the AOC name since it is vinified in Montlouis. It’s another of Jacky’s monopole vineyards, and in 2020, is hard to beat. So fresh and defined. Citrus and focused on the nose, with a complex floral and saline palate. SUch a satisfying glass.

Tasting notes

If it wasn't for idiotic local politics and jealousy, Bretonnière would be appellation Vouvray and among the best examples of that appellation. From the 2014 vintage all Vouvray has to be made within the appellation, with the neighbouring commune to the east the sole exception. The Taille aux Loups' winery is in Montlouis, so this wine is Vin de France. Bretonnière is a monopole and comes from a clos on the premières côtes in the commune of Noizay. The 2019 has a ripe buttery aromas with a lovely rich texture. There is a touch of oak but very well integrated with a long powerful finish, though still a little tight on the finish. Fine aging potential.
