Four parcels of 100 year old vines on silex. There’s dark fruit, black olive and leafiness, carried through with bright acidity and a smoky gun flint finish. There’s lovely texture and fine tannins here; it’s nicely put together.

Serge et Bruno Sourdais

Chinon, an appellation in the Loire Valley, is responsible for some of France’s most drinkable and refreshing red wines. Bruno Sourdais, the sixth generation winemaker at this eponymous domaine, is making delicious, delicate Cabernet Franc which offers exceptional value for money. The emphasis here is on traditional winemaking with a careful approach in the vineyard and the wines all spending a little time in oak. In spite of the humble price tag for his wine, Bruno is rightly considered one of the top producers in the appellation.
