2016 Sancerre Les Monts Damnés, Pierre Martin

2016 Sancerre Les Monts Damnés, Pierre Martin

A fine example in 2016, the Monts Damnés from Pierre shows impressive restraint alongside the trademark power and ripeness of this great vineyard. It's possibly the best example we've tasted from here.

Pierre Martin

Based in the village of Chavignol, a few kilometres up the road from Sancerre itself, Pierre Martin is a talented young winemaker who is making his mark. He shares these steep slopes, including those of his vineyards Culs de Beaujeu and Les Monts Damnés, with celebrated producer François Cotat, and his wines are now reaching this very top level themselves. With only small volumes produced of incredibly impressive wines, Pierre Martin is rightfully fast garnering an excellent reputation.
