This is a delicate Coteaux du Layon from a small crop in this tricky vintage. Carefully selected so as to include only the most concentrated grapes, this wine bears all the hallmarks of des Forges’ quintessential fruit purity. The scents are of freesia, honey and pear, quince and nectarine. These follow through onto the palate which is clean-cut, delightfully fresh, with a bright and lifted finish. The quality truly does belie this wine’s humble price tag.
