2010 Blanc Fumé de Pouilly, Didier Dagueneau

There is nothing mundane about this “basic” Dagueneau cuvée. This is the domaine’s only cuvée to blend across two soil types – Marne chalk and Silex – as well as across several farflung parcels.White peach and floral notes combine with an elegant chalky minerality; passion fruit, lime and nettle display an aromatic pungency that coincides with a bright, silk entextured, very pure palate. The finish is firm, focussed and long – where fruit and freshness are balanced beautifully with the well-managed oak.

2010 Blanc Fumé de Pouilly, Didier Dagueneau
Didier Dagueneau

Before his untimely death in 2008, Didier Dagueneau was the “wild man of Pouilly”, on a mission to resurrect Pouilly-Fumé’s reputation for Sauvignon Blanc of the highest quality. His wines developed a cult following, and his son, Louis-Benjamin, is now following in his footsteps and continuing his legacy. In his hands, the wines are still incredibly expressive but have developed an extra layer of precision.
