This was a standout Riesling in a brilliant line-up of 2019s. Rangen de Thann is the most southerly of the Alsace Grands Crus, and the quality of its wines has been documented as far back as the 12th century. Olivier Humbrecht's immaculate vineyard work in its volcanic soils combined with low yields make this 2019 a wine of sensational freshness. It has a beguiling lime and papaya scent, and an absolutely gorgeous texture on the palate. There is plenty of tension and power in this grand cru, and will age brilliantly. Residual sugar 2.8 g/l
