2019 Hermitage Blanc Le Chevalier de Stérimberg, Paul Jaboulet Aîné

This classic Hermitage blend of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne comes from vinews grown on a particularly steep part of the hillside. It is spiced and full-bodied. Gentle vinification in concrete eggs and oak barrels (only a small proportion new) coax out the fruit.

2019 Hermitage Blanc Le Chevalier de Stérimberg, Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné

Jaboulet is one of the Rhône’s most famous names, and the house’s flagship wine, Hermitage La Chapelle, is an icon. Founded as a family concern in the early 19th century, it remained in family hands for nearly two hundred years, until it was sold to the Frey family, proprietors of Bordeaux Third Growth Château La Lagune and Champagne’s Billecart-Salmon. Caroline Frey now oversees the winemaking, and the estate has returned to the top table in Hermitage.
