2019 Ermitage Le Pavillon, M. Chapoutier

From 65 year old vines grown in a parcel with particularly thin top soil over a granitic subsoil. The fruit expression is sweet and intense, you can almost feel the sun beating down on the vines when you smell it. A compact palate of velvety tannins, and a long finish of black fruit and licorice spice.

M. Chapoutier

The name Chapoutier has long been associated with the northern Rhône thanks to the calibre of their plots around the region, but it was only once Michel Chapoutier took control of the family business in 1988 that quality accelerated it to become the world-class concern it is today. Michel Chapoutier is undoubtedly one of the greatest winemakers of our time, and has successfully extended his business to include vineyards in the Roussillon, Alsace and Australia. But his Northern Rhône Syrahs and Marsannes of exquisite quality remain the main attraction.
