2017 Hermitage La Sizeranne, M. Chapoutier

2017 Hermitage La Sizeranne, M. Chapoutier

This is a brilliantly balanced Hermitage from Michel Chapoutier. Notes of violets and lilac, with plenty of tar and baked earth too. The fruit is dark, brooding and plush, with lovely acidity on the finish. Will need plenty of time, but what a wine.

Tasting notes

Leading off the Hermitage releases, notes of blackberries, graphite, smoked earth, and new saddle leather are just some of the nuances in the 2017 Hermitage Monier de La Sizeranne. It's a rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied beauty that has awesome purity, sweet tannins, and the depth and balance to keep for 20-25 years.

Seriously impressive this year, the 2017 Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne is full-bodied and concentrated, loaded with chewy tannins in a decidedly muscular style. Notes of crushed stone, pencil shavings, mixed berries and vanilla finish juicy, mouthwatering and long. Try it in about 5 years.
