2016 Saint-Joseph, 'La Croix des Vignes', Paul Jaboulet Aine

The team first decided to bottle this separately in 2009, from a plot that sits above Tournon and Mauves, above the Hermitage hill. It’s upfront and floral, with very fine tannins and a long and silky finish.

2016 Saint-Joseph, 'La Croix des Vignes', Paul Jaboulet Aine
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné

Jaboulet is one of the Rhône’s most famous names, and the house’s flagship wine, Hermitage La Chapelle, is an icon. Founded as a family concern in the early 19th century, it remained in family hands for nearly two hundred years, until it was sold to the Frey family, proprietors of Bordeaux Third Growth Château La Lagune and Champagne’s Billecart-Salmon. Caroline Frey now oversees the winemaking, and the estate has returned to the top table in Hermitage.
