2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition, Domaine Giraud

The 2016 Tradition has wonderfully pure fruit with a satisfying savoury balance. The concentration is really impressive, and there’s such energy on the palate, driving it along. The is a great effort from Marie, power and elegance combined and superb value.

2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition, Domaine Giraud
Domaine Giraud

Although they’ve got a history in the region dating back generations, the Giraud family are relative latecomers to wine, having been distillers for most of their history. They only got hold of their first vines in 1974, with brother and sister team, François and Marie, taking over from their parents in 1998. They focus on each plot in turn, creating some of Châteauneuf’s most elegant and precise wines that show none of the heaviness of some of their neighbours.
