2016 Crozes-Hermitage,' Domaine de Roure', Paul Jaboulet Aîné

From granitic soils behind the hill of Hermitage, this is a powerful and intense yet perfectly balanced Crozes. There’s a mineral structure, with very fine tannins and quite a floral, herby character. One for the long haul.

Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné

Jaboulet is one of the Rhône’s most famous names, and the house’s flagship wine, Hermitage La Chapelle, is an icon. Founded as a family concern in the early 19th century, it remained in family hands for nearly two hundred years, until it was sold to the Frey family, proprietors of Bordeaux Third Growth Château La Lagune and Champagne’s Billecart-Salmon. Caroline Frey now oversees the winemaking, and the estate has returned to the top table in Hermitage.
