2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Beaucastel

“Not yet bottled, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is one of the few inky colored wines in the vintage. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and ripe with notable tannin, it offers beautiful notes of blackberry, shitake mushrooms, licorice and pepper meats. It plays in the 2014 vintage’s forward, supple nature, but has real depth and concentration. I don’t think it will be the longest lived Beaucastel, but it will have 15-20 years of overall longevity.”

2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Beaucastel
Famille Perrin

Dating back to 1549, Château de Beaucastel may be the oldest estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, now managed by four members of the Perrin family. One of the first estates in the region to utilise organic viticulture, they are known for their use of all 13 permitted grape varieties, particularly Mourvèdre, resulting in powerful, generous wines. As well as red and white Châteauneuf, the estate produces a Vieilles Vignes Blanc from Roussanne and the extremely rare cuvée, Hommage à Jacques Perrin.
