2013 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium, Réné Rostaing

Produced from 13 separate plots, this is a classically proportioned wine that is highly aromatic at this early stage with notes of violet and crushed pepper. It coats the mouth with raspberry flavoured tannins and has terrific depth; this is proof of a master at work.

2013 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium, Réné Rostaing
Domaine René Rostaing

A master in his field, René Rostaing is an anomaly. While his wife inherited some of the finest plots in the Côte-Rôtie, he initially elected a career in real estate, though he gradually spent more time making wine until he took it on full time in 2000. With 7.5 hectares of prime land, he blends the best of traditional and modern techniques in the vineyard and cellar, producing terroir-driven wines. René has recently been joined by his son, Pierre, whose first vintage in control was 2015.
