2012 Côte-Rôtie, Belle-Hélène, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier

The nose on this immediately takes you aback with its dense and intense fruit core. The expressiveness of the nose continues onto the palate, with mouth filling grip and excellent ripeness. Impressive.

2012 Côte-Rôtie, Belle-Hélène, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier
Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier

One of the greatest producers of the Côte-Rôtie, the estate remains a family affair. For years, the Ogiers sold their grapes to Guigal and Chapoutier, but in the 1980s they began to produce their own wine. Stéphane started working along his father Michel in 1997 before taking the helm in 2003. He learned to make wine in Beaune, and the influence is clear: his belief in the importance of ‘crus’ within the Côte-Rôtie and vinification of individual plots leads to wines with considerable finesse.
