2012 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium, Réné Rostaing

From 13 separate terroirs René seems delighted with the natural balance of his 2012 Ampodium. The nose has a beguiling fragrance which carries through to such pure and precise flavours. Violets, black pepper and blood with enough sweetness of red/black fruit. A great wine from one of the masters.

2012 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium, Réné Rostaing
Domaine René Rostaing

A master in his field, René Rostaing is an anomaly. While his wife inherited some of the finest plots in the Côte-Rôtie, he initially elected a career in real estate, though he gradually spent more time making wine until he took it on full time in 2000. With 7.5 hectares of prime land, he blends the best of traditional and modern techniques in the vineyard and cellar, producing terroir-driven wines. René has recently been joined by his son, Pierre, whose first vintage in control was 2015.
