2012 Côte-Rôtie La Turque, Etienne Guigal

Similar to the La Mouline with its forward, incredibly sexy style, the 2012 Côte Rôtie La Turque (there’s 7% Viognier in the blend) offers a saturated purple color to go with meaty, smoky notes of cassis, cured meats, chocolate and roasted herbs. It’s a big mouthful of a wine, with full-bodied richness and a stacked mid-palate, but it has a seamless, weightless texture, perfectly ripe tannin and a blockbuster finish.

Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate
Etienne Guigal

Founded in 1946 by Etienne, his son (and Légion d’Honneur holder) Marcel joined in 1961 and expanded their land to what represents over a third of the Côte-Rôtie harvest. Today, third generation winemaker Philippe, Etienne’s grandson, has been involved since the 1999 after an internship at Château Cheval Blanc and studies in Dijon. Guigal’s Côte-Rôties have received more 100-point scores from Robert Parker than any other wine, and has been described as "this planet’s greatest winemaker."
