With no Cuvée de Mon Aïeul or Deux Frères produced in 2011, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape benefits from the inclusion of the old vine Grenache that would normally go into the those wines. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, and 5% Cinsault from tiny yields, this wonderful cuvée offers a beautiful perfume of damson and plum, Christmas spices, liquorice, and wild flowers. The strict selection has worked wonders, as the wine displays superbly concentrated fruit on the palate, supple but amply-textured and with a very impressive finish – all of which will allow it to shine for upwards of a decade.(Given 91-93 points in theWine Advocate, Robert Parker)
