2010 Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée, M. Chapoutier

This Syrah grown on granite soil produces a wine endowed with a beguilingly complex and rich nose of cocoa, praline, cherry liqueur and just a hint of maple smoke. Silky and delicate on the palate, this seductive, smooth yet precisely poised Côte-Rôtie is a little like a Chanel suit worn by a smart Parisian: classy and obviously refined, with a flirtatious edge.

2010 Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée, M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier

The name Chapoutier has long been associated with the northern Rhône thanks to the calibre of their plots around the region, but it was only once Michel Chapoutier took control of the family business in 1988 that quality accelerated it to become the world-class concern it is today. Michel Chapoutier is undoubtedly one of the greatest winemakers of our time, and has successfully extended his business to include vineyards in the Roussillon, Alsace and Australia. But his Northern Rhône Syrahs and Marsannes of exquisite quality remain the main attraction.
